The curriculum of “Oxford Academy Almaty” is based on a British programme called “Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)” this programme is taught in English schools and has been adapted for children for whom English is not the first language.

It consists of 7 development areas which are combined to help children gain a broad outlook on life, to have experiences of the world around us and to develop the vital skills they will require when they continue their education at an older age and a higher level.

3 Prime areas

1 Communication of language

Give the children the opportunity to experience a sustained and fluent English language environment; to develop their confidence in speaking English the language. To learn how and when to listen and speak at appropriate times.

2 Personal, Social, Emotional Development

Develop a confident and outgoing personality and understand how to behave appropriately with others. Learning the difference between right / wrong and that each action will have consequences.

3 Physical
Development

Understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Provide opportunities for kids to be active and interactive. Learning how to use their bodies safely.

4 Specific Areas

Literacy

Learn the full range of English language sounds and letters. Learn how to blend these sounds and letters together which form the basis of reading and writing.

Math

Provide opportunities for children to develop skills in counting, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems, to describe shape, spaces measures and time.

Understanding the world

Guide children to make sense of the world around them and their community through exploring and finding out people, places, technology and the environment.

Expressive Arts and Design

Encourage them to express themselves through art, music, dance, role-play and design.

We also provide the following activities to you children: judo, baby yoga, swimming, music, dancing, psychology.

The three prime areas are vital in forming each child’s personality.

The programme of OAA is optimised for kids from 2 to 6 years. The teaching process is divided into terms. Every term has general themes, which divides into weekly themes. We give children both theoretical learning and practical experiences.

There are two teachers in every group: one native English speaker and one local teacher speaking English. All children are fully submerged in the English language every day, we believe this provides the best environment for children to become confident and skilled in using the English language.
